Surprise reception for Netanyahu on road to Efrat:

“Bibi! Don’t be Mike Blass’ lapdog”

Posters were hung along the way that leads from Jerusalem to Efrat, where the Prime Minister’s entourage is expected to pass today, saying: “Bibi! Don’t be Mike Blass’ lapdog ! Efrat and Gush Etzion support Migron”.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to arrive at the school-year opening ceremony today (Monday 27/8) in Efrat, Gush Etzion, however he will be receiving a surprise reception on behalf of the Women in Green organization and it’s leaders, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, on the road leading to Gush Etzion.

During the night hundreds of posters bearing the slogan “Bibi! Don’t be Mike Blass’ lap-dog! Efrat and Gush Etzion support Migron!” were hung along the way that leads from Jerusalem to Efrat by Women in Green activists and residents of Efrat and Gush Etzion. (see attached pictures of the posters in Efrat and on Road 60 with Efrat in background)

Matar and Katsover view Netanyahu’s visit as an attempt by the PM to “divide and conquer” the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria. According to them, “this visit has a dubious message – on the one hand these communities are being supported, but on the other hand, at the same time, forces are gathering in preparation for the eviction of Migron. Netanyahu is the king of double-messages”.

Regarding the expected reception for the PM’s convoy along the road leading to Efrat, they share: “Women in Green, along with the residents of Efrat and Gush Etzion, haven’t been fooled and will greet the PM with posters saying: ‘Bibi! Don’t be Mike Blass’ lap-dog! Efrat and Gush Etzion support Migron!’”

Katsover and Matar continue further by praising the people of Migron’s conduct in face of the government’s demand for eviction. “The people of Migron weren’t fooled and are currently still refusing to abandon the Land of Israel. Unlike the PM, the people of Migron are not afraid of Mike Blass, a clerk that was not elected by the public, yet seems to have taken over the reins of power. The clerk is not the problem, but rather the weakness of the PM, who seems to fear applying the policies he declared and that were brought forth in the Edmond Levy report”.

Katsover and Matar refuse to comply with the call to see the “glass half full” in the arrival of Netanyahu to Gush Etzion and Efrat on the first day of school. They state that in light of the government’s conduct with Gush Etzion as well “it is, unfortunately, difficult to rejoice”. They explain this statement by saying: “We were informed this week that the so-called “Security” Fence – i.e. the ‘Separation’ Wall will continue to be built on the other side of route 60, essentially creating a ‘Kissufim route 2’. The fence will also cut off the continuity between Gush Etzion, Kiryat Arba Hebron and Eastern Gush Etzion”. Also, they were shocked to hear that 550 housing units were approved for the Arabs in Zakaria, between Alon Shvut and Rosh Tzurim. This is a far greater number than the several dozen houses that were approved for Jewish construction in Gush Etzion. The implication of the construction of a large Arab settlement in the heart of Gush Etzion is the destruction of the Gush. So who are you, Mr. Prime Minister? Until the matter is clarified, we best be cautious, alert against the dangers and the wrong-doings, so that we won’t be taken by surprise as we were with Sharon”.

Matar and Katsover conclude their statement by sending an encouraging message to the residents of Migron: “Have faith and be strong. You are currently the guiding light for the entire hityashvut movement”.
