Complaints Filed with the Department for the Investigation of Police Misconduct:
Police Violence against Minors
INN News, www.inn.co.il October 30, 2005
This morning Aryeh Yitzhaki, one of the deportees from Gush Katif, and Nadia Matar, the Co-Chairperson of Women in Green, are filing complaints with the Department for the Investigation of Police Misconduct (PID) against police officers who apparently engaged in police brutality. These complaints relate to the events surrounding the uprooting of the Maoz Hahar neighborhood, that was established last Thursday, within the municipal bounds of Efrat, as part of the settlement campaign by the new youth movement, the ‘Land of Israel Youth movement””

Yitzhaki included with his complaint photographs and a video film as evidence supporting the claims against the police, further claims that the video film that was given to Channel One and the major news papers was “”buried.””  Channel One territories correspondent Benny Liss went even further. He used a voiceover in a different film as if it was occurring in Kedumim, when in reality such police violence was occurring in Efrat.

The false reports that appeared in the media over the weekend, according to which the youth in Efrat “”engaged in violence against the security forces,”” is a stark lie. Furthermore, the Council of Jewish Settlements in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza did not bother to check the facts when it denounced and reviled our wonderful youth. “”The truth was entirely different,”” Yitzhaki told Arutz 7 (Israel National News).

“”On Thursday, 24 Tishrei [October 27], Large forces of army and police arrived and attacked the Maoz Hahar meahaz [outpost] that was established by youth on the hill where the new cemetery of Efrat was to be located. The outpost was established on state land, and is specifically within the municipal urban plan of Efrat,”” Yitchaki wrote the above in his complaint to the police Misconduct Unit.

In order to prevent unnecessary confrontations, the youth evacuated the hill. On the way back, they did not take the main road directly into Efrat, but took a walk on other hills. When one hundred and fifty youth and several adults came to the Gush Etzion Industrial Park, the security forces ran towards them and began to arrest the youth with no cause or reason. Thus, 3 youth and one woman, the mother of one of the youth, were arrested. The rest of the group understood that this was a vengeful campaign by the security forces, who apparently were disappointed by the lack of a confrontation at Maoz Hahar. The youth ran into Efrat, thinking that they would be safe there.

The youth had arranged to meet at the pizzeria in Rimon [one of the Efrat neighborhoods] shopping center. To everyone’s amazement, police from the Yamar [the elite Central Division] came to the shopping center in Efrat in order to arrest Nadia Matar and a number of the youth without any cause. They jumped on them extremely violently on Rimon Street, arresting Nadia Matar, as well as several additional youth, and put them in vehicles and a police jeep. Dozens of young men and women attempted to block their way.

The detectives were forced to call for additional border police backup. They realized that there were not enough police when faced with the inhabitants’ outrage. The police, moreover, acted with incredible brutality.””

Yitzhaki then claims that the arrest of the minor A. V. was made in a brutal manner: “”After his hands were manacled and he was held by five policemen, one plainclothes detective, Chief Inspector [Pakad] Moshe Ben-Harush, grabbed him and very ferociously choked him. The detective stopped and was compelled to identify himself only after the intervention of a number of adults.”” The struggle lasted about two hours. Superintendent [Rav-Pakad] Moshe Moshe also engaged in extreme violence, and among other things, attacked the minor Y. M. without cause, choking him and hitting him in the face. Superintendent [Rav-Pakad] Yosef Cohen punched Y. A., another minor, in the head.

A senior police officer, Eli Zamir, conducted a dialogue with adults, including Mayor Eli Mizrachi and ended the matter. It was agreed that civilians would clear the blocked roads, and the police forces would withdraw from Efrat and release Nadia Matar and the additional arrestees.

Yitzhaki states that when Nadia was released, she told him  about her arrest:  Three detectives: Itamar Cohen, Yossi Cohen, and Ushik Ben-David, brutally “”kidnapped her”” and subjected her to extreme physical and verbal abuse and brutality. They beat her on her head and neck, resulting in a severe sprain of the juncture of her spinal column with her neck. They threatened her that “”they would screw her with such a severe trial that she would be in trouble for her entire life, and would regret ever having been born””. They promised that there would be all kinds of false charges made against her. Nadia required medical treatment and X-rays following the incident.

Woman In Green Co-Chair, Nadia Matar, is also filing a complaint with the Police Unit (PID). She told Arutz 7 that she was “”kidnapped”” in broad daylight in the area of the Efrat shopping center, by three detectives. “”They put me in the back seat of a Skoda automobile. A detective was to my right, and another to my left. The driver said: ‘I will screw you with such a trial that you will never get out of it. I will use the law to hit you so that you will regret ever having been born. I will make sure there will be all kinds of charges brought against you.’ He began to drive, but did not know of any other exit from the area besides the way that the youth were blocking. This annoyed him. When I saw my son from a distance, and I leaned forward a bit to try and wave to him, so that my son would see that this was the car in which I was sitting, the detective brutally pushed me back, put handcuffs on me – which, by the way, remained on me all the time until I was released, about four hours later. The driver said to the other two detectives: ‘Guys, Nadia tried to grab the wheel from me, while I was driving. Isn’t it so that she thereby endangered our lives, which is an extremely serious charge? The two other detectives agreed. ‘In other words, they shamelessly invented a false charge against me, and prepared their perjury about something that I in no way did. In fact, one of the specific accusations was that I endangered the lives of the policemen when I tried to grab the steering wheel from them.”” This is a complete fabrication.

Even more serious than this, Nadia continues, “”When they saw that they could not leave the neighborhood, they even drove wildly the wrong way on the main street until they decided to park. They were hiding me from the youth who were looking for me. We stayed there, in this little car, parked between other cars, and they hoped that in this way no one would pay attention to them. But when local residents began walking around, and came near the vicinity of the car, the policemen were afraid that the residents would see me. Accordingly, every time that someone came close to the car, the policeman sitting to my right put his left hand around my neck and viciously pulled my head and neck down. All this, so that no one outside would see that I was in the vehicle. My head was actually on his knees and I could throw up when I think about this. At the same time, the policeman to my left put his right hand on my arms, to prevent me from signaling to those outside that I was in the car.

“”It took them close to an hour until they found a way to take me out of Efrat. They did so through a hole in some fence, on a dirt road, and then transferred me to another police car. In the police station I was charged with: illegal assembly, assaulting a police officer, preventing a police officer from doing his duty, and more…. Among other things, during the interrogation I was told that I was ‘suspected of endangering policemen’s lives by attempting to take the steering wheel from them while moving'””  The above are excerpts from testimony of Nadia Matar in the complaint that is to be filed.

The Youth for the Land of Israel Movement insist that the policemen who engaged in such brutality will be punished. They called on all inhabitants of Efrat, Judea and Samaria and elsewhere, not to believe the lies that are being told about them by the leftist media. Instead they should fully support, in every way possible, the members of the Land of Israel Youth Movement.

OPINION SURVEYS AS OPINION MANIPULATION

LETTER FROM RUTH MATAR (WOMEN IN GREEN) JERUSALEM
Thursday, November 3, 2005
Dear Friends,

Yesterday I got my first telephone call from an Israeli Public Opinion research outfit. “”Finally,”” I said to myself, “”somebody in Israel wants my opinion!””

The interviewer first wanted to ascertain if I was an Israeli citizen, (I have dual citizenship) and if I was a registered Likud Party member. My answer was affirmative to both questions. Obviously, the interviewer was working from a Likud Party membership list.

The interview went as follows:

Q: Who are you going to vote for in the upcoming Likud primary, Sharon or Netanyahu?
A: Neither. I am going to vote for Uzi Landau.
Q: That is not what I asked you. Who are you going to vote for, Sharon or Netanyahu?
A: I just told you. I am going to vote for Uzi Landau because I feel that he would keep his
   campaign promises.
Q: What would be your choice between Ariel Sharon, Binyamin Netanyahu and Moshe Feiglin?
A: I have already answered your question. I am going to vote for Uzi Landau.
Q: Madam, you are deliberately being uncooperative.

I doubt that I will be part of the findings of this opinion survey.

In my youth, long ago, after I graduated from Hunter College in New York City, I worked for a number of years at the Bureau of Applied Social Research of Columbia University, one of the foremost academic institutes for public opinion research.

There is one important thing that I learned there. The validity of any public opinion research project depends on how you choose your sample and how you frame your question.
However, I have no idea how I happened to be chosen as part of This Likud Party opinion-poll.

The framing of the question as to who was my choice for the Likud Party leader was completely biased in that one of the main contenders, Uzi Landau, was left out of the equation.  I speculate that the reason for this manipulation is to give people the impression that Ariel Sharon is likely to be the winner of the Likud primary. This in turn will increase the vote for Ariel Sharon, as people generally like to be on the side of the winner.

Another opinion-poll came to my attention.

On October 31, 2005, the Jerusalem Post published the following article on the front page, entitled: POLL: US ATTITUDES ON ISRAEL IMPROVE AFTER DISENGAGEMENT. This opinion poll was conducted by The Israel Project, supposedly a non-partisan group.

I could not believe my eyes, as I read these “”non partisan”” findings. I was disturbed enough to obtain the actual study from an influential media friend. The opinion survey is a collection of charts, statistics and “”thermometer”” readings- approximately 30 pages of gobbledygook.

The key findings of this survey are:
1. The withdrawal from Gaza is an Israeli success story.
2. Americans view the Gaza withdrawal as a courageous move and a risk that paid off.
3. 77% of those surveyed supported withdrawal and said that they were more optimistic about
the chances for peace than a year ago, when the fate of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s
   disengagement plan was still unclear.
4. Israel benefited from disengagement. The post-disengagement boost in American attitudes
toward Israel resulted from the heavy news coverage received in American newspapers and
on television of the dismantling of the Gush Katif settlements.

WOW! Can you believe this? The horrific images of forcible evacuations of Jews by Jews. The bulldozing of hundreds of homes, the wholesale destruction of businesses and schools and community centers and synagogues. The bus loads of homeless refugees arriving in various Israeli cities with only the clothes on their back. The frightening and strange parallels of human suffering and homelessness across the seas by an act of G-d. Those images boosted favorable American attitudes toward Israel? If you believe that, the Brooklyn Bridge is still for sale!

What would the professors at the Bureau of Applied Social Research of Columbia University in New York City say about this study?

I assume that they would question the choice of the sample and the framing of the question.

CHOICE OF THE SAMPLE:

The survey was conducted among 500 members of “”opinion elites””- likely voters who regularly follow the news, have a college degree and earn more than $75,000 annually. Are those “”elites”” representative of American attitudes toward Israel following disengagement? I certainly question the size and composition of that sample.

FRAMING OF THE QUESTION:

The Israel Project, in this survey, frames loaded questions, aimed at eliciting specific answers. In addition, they introduce the concept of thermometer readings of the respondents’ feelings toward certain people and organizations, such as: the Palestinians, the Israelis, Ariel Sharon, Mahmoud Abbas, George W. Bush, Israel, a Palestinian state, Hamas etc.

On a scale of one to one hundred: One hundred meaning VERY WARM, FAVORABLE feeling; zero meaning a VERY COLD, UNFAVORABLE feeling; and fifty meaning not particularly warm or cold. The higher the number the more favorable the feelings are toward that person or organization.  The respondent is permitted to use any number from zero to one hundred.

If I were asked to diagnose my emotional temperature, I would find it very difficult. In addition, the Israel Project has omitted any instruction as to where to stick the thermometer.

Dear friends, I cannot believe that the majority of my fellow Americans really believe that Sharon’s withdrawal from Gaza is an Israeli success story. Interestingly enough, Israel’s deputy Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, made clear in a June 9, 2005, speech that Sharon’s decision to destroy the Jewish communities of Gush Katif and northern Samaria was not the result of US or European pressure. Boasted Olmert: “”The beauty of this policy of the Israeli Government was that this was a unilateral action. No one imposed it on us, no foreign government forced Israel to pull out from these territories.””

Thus, Sharon cannot blame American President George W. Bush for initiating this crime against the Jewish people. However, there is no doubt that once Sharon approached the United States with his disengagement plan, President Bush, with the enthusiastic input of the US State Department and US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, mistakenly accepted this plan as being in America’s global interest. Supporting Sharon’s plan was, of course, completely at odds with the American declared war on terror, wherever it is found.  Once the radical Muslims learned that terror paid great dividends in Israel, they used this knowledge in their fight against America in Iraq.

Yes, the “”disengagement”” was successfully carried out. Following Israel’s departure from Gaza, thousands of tons of weaponry was brought into Gaza as the border with Egypt was thrown open. Not only weapons, but large numbers of terrorists poured into Gaza. This includes terrorists from Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hizbollah, Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, etc. Within a week, Gaza was transformed into the largest, best-armed and best-financed terror base in the whole world!

This dangerous situation threatens the very existence of Israel. It is also extremely dangerous for the United States, as well as for the entire non-Islamic world.

Dear friends, I would like to run a public opinion survey of my own. I ask you to please take a minute out of your busy life to answer the following questions with a simple answer of Yes or No.

Questions:
1. Do you view Sharon’s Gaza withdrawal as a courageous move, and a risk that paid off?

2. Do you feel that the chances for peace between Muslim terrorists and the United States and Israel have increased because of Gaza disengagement?

Please email your response to me a.s.a.p. The results will be published in next week’s article. (I doubt that the Jerusalem Post or the New York Times will be interested.)

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

P.S. Muslim terror continues unabated. Headline in the Jerusalem Post of November 1, 2005, “”3 CHRISTIAN SCHOOL-GIRLS BEHEADED IN INDONESIA””.

Assailants wearing black veils beheaded 3 Christian school-girls and seriously wounded a forth.

The heads of the 3 victims were found several miles from their bodies. 2 were left near a police station and another in front of a newly built Christian church.

Radical groups have stepped up campaigns to prevent the country’s Christian minority building more churches. Christian residents said on Monday, they were afraid to leave their homes.

November 4, 2005
They Are A-F-R-A-I-D of Our Wonderful Youth!
by Nadia Matar, Nov. 4, 2005
The forces of evil in the government, the State Attorney’s Office, the police, and the media are in a state of shock. They don’t know what happened to them. They truly thought that with the deportation and the destruction of Gush Katif and Northern Samaria that they would succeed in finally crushing us. They truly thought that after this terrible summer the Jewish camp would finally behave as requested: like quiet and docile sheep of the “”shepherd”” – the dictator Ariel Sharon. [The Sheppard is the name of a new biography on the dictator, Ariel Sharon, which just came out in Hebrew].

They truly thought that after the destruction of Gush Katif and Northern Samaria, that the Jewish camp would focus exclusively on quiet “”Panim el Panim”” (face to face meetings) activity in Afulah and Haderah and slogans like “”With Love We Will Be Victorious”” – activities and slogans that don’t disturb in the least the dictatorship of Sharon, the dictator, and the gang of deportation criminals that surround him.

The forces of evil of Ariel Sharon and Shimon Peres actually expected that after this summer the Jewish camp would totally despair. The deportation forces could then remove the rest of the Jews of Judea and Samaria, and make the entire area Judenrein. Their supporters in the Jewish camp would not dare to protest.

But, lo and behold! All of a sudden, it transpires that the Jewish camp is still alive. And it isn’t just alive, it’s kicking, breathing, raising its head, and daring to say: I’m here! If you thought that you destroyed us, then you are terribly wrong! If you thought that we had ceased to fight for the Land of Israel – then you are wrong, big time!

To the astonishment of Sharon’s corrupt system, a new movement has arisen, with thousands of youth, who are organized, proud, strong, and not afraid – not of the Arabs, not of the leftists and not of the Sharon Government. Yes, those thousands of youth who struggled for Gush Katif and northern Samaria who have organized anew call themselves “”the Land of Israel Youth.”” Youngsters from the ages of 13 to 25, who are capable of organizing and simultaneously establishing four outpost settlements in different places, with two hundred and fifty of them in each place.

The slogan of these youth frightens the entire system- “”WE LOVE YOU THE LAND OF ISRAEL””. this slogan is tantamount to incitement and sedition! The regime of the dictators Sharon-Peres cannot tolerate anyone who still dares to express their love for “”the Land of Israel.”” The Sharon-Peres regime is a-f-r-a-i-d of proud Jews who declare that they do not consent to enter ghettos. That they do not want to confine themselves within fences. The Sharon-Peres regime is a-f-r-a-i-d of proud Jews who proclaim that they are sick and tired of being second-class citizens, while all Arabs in Judea and Samaria are treated like first-class citizens. The Sharon-Peres regime is a-f-r-a-i-d of proud Jews who dare to walk about the land, plant, demonstrate a presence, everywhere in the Land of Israel. The Sharon-Peres regime is a-f-r-a-i-d of proud Jews who are not afraid to loudly proclaim: “”All the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people.”” The Sharon-Peres regime is a-f-r-a-i-d of proud Jews who say: “”Perhaps you succeeded in destroying Gush Katif and Northern Samaria, but the next time we will not be so nice and innocent. The next time you will not succeed. And this is not all, with God’s help, we will yet return to Gush Katif and Northern Samaria!””

And because the Sharon-Peres regime is afraid of this new youth movement, it attacks it so strongly and brutally, to try and subdue it before this becomes a mass movement. After what happened last Thursday during the evacuation of the four outposts, we can no longer have any doubts that the security forces received a green light, and an explicit order, to break the bones of anyone belonging to or assisting the Land of Israel Youth. The media aids the Sharon regime. It spreads blood libels, as if the youth were “”rioting””, “”going wild”” and “”attacking”” when the opposite is the case. The attackers are the security forces, who break the bones of the “”youth””.

It is extremely important that the adults in the Jewish camp not fall into the divide-and-rule trap that the Sharon-Peres dictatorship is setting up for us. It must not begin to denounce these wonderful youth. For example, after the publication of the photograph of the officer whose face was injured at Elon Moreh, there was no need for the heads of Moetzet Yesha (the Council of Jewish Settlements in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza) to come out with a statement against the youth. Rather the opposite. A forceful announcement should have been released, saying: “”We wonder how many youths’ ribs that officer broke in defending themselves!”” There has been no investigation of the facts. That officer might just be lying. He and his soldiers acted brutally against the youth. He is using this to besmirch the settler public and de-legitimize them.

I call upon the entire public of the Jewish camp to support the Land of Israel Youth, with both moral and financial support. Additionally, we must organize to file personal civil lawsuits against every policeman or soldier who dares to touch our children. I, too, do not intend to remain silent after the severe mistreatment I suffered at the hands of the three detectives who brutally kidnapped me in broad daylight, without any cause, in Efrat. They verbally and physically attacked me in their car. Those police officers should be made accountable for what police brutality they rendered to me.

We, the generation of adults who struggled against the criminal Oslo Accords, are proud to have raised such a marvelous generation of youth. They are following in the footsteps of Caleb Ben Jephunneh and Joshua Bin Nun who are continuing the struggle for the conquest of the Land of Israel. They are and continue to be faithful to the people of Israel, the Land of Israel, and the Torah of Israel. Our youth will undoubtedly succeed. Under the age old admonition, “”Go forth and triumph””

November 7, 2005
THE STRUGGLE FOR THE LAND OF ISRAEL CONTINUES!
Dear Friends,

The struggle continues. Less than 3 months have passed since the criminal destruction of Gush Katif and the Northern Shomron and politicians are already planning more uprootings, more deportations, more suicidal concessions to the Arab enemy. Our deported brothers and sisters have been turned into refugees with no home, no personal belongings, and no jobs. The winter has arrived and they are still scattered around the country in hotels, dormitories or tent cities, with the government, purposefully, doing nothing to help them.

Since the expulsion, Women in Green have been very involved in “”Operation Band-Aid”” organized by Rachel Saperstein, refugee of Nevei Dekalim, residing now in the Jerusalem Gold Hotel. Operation Band-Aid provides pocket money in a discreet envelope, for each head of a Gush Katif household. The money is used for a busfare, a haircut, a newspaper, a toy- all the small items we take for granted.  Friends of Gush Katif and the Shomron, in Israel and abroad, have sent money to Operation Band-Aid, and we urge all to continue to do so.

In addition, Women in Green have been involved in helping the wonderful youth get reorganized. We are happy to see that our youth has not been crushed by the Sharon dictatorship- on the contrary! They have raised their heads and have reorganized into a movement called “”The Youth for The Land of Israel””.  Last week the entire country spoke about them, when they simultaneously founded four new outposts. Leaders and members of Women in Green are proud to see that their own children are part of this new youth movement. As adults it is our responsibility to help this new movement financially. Last week’s event was just the beginning of many activities the youth are planning in order to help save our homeland.  We urge all adults to help them by participating in their activities (The holiday of Chanukah will be their next big event-details to come) and by sending in donations .

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

After the shock of the destruction, the national camp must go back to the streets! We must rebuild our deterrence. No more ridiculous slogans of “”With love we will win””. We need to show firm determination that we will never again tolerate any uprootings from our homeland. Women in Green urge all to participate in all the different important activities:

1) WOMEN IN GREEN – SAVE HEBRON CAMPAIGN
Next on the Israeli government’s chopping board is the “”Mitzpe Shalhevet”” neighborhood in Hebron. Shalhevet Pass is the baby that was murdered by an Arab sniper in March of 2001. As a reaction to the murder, the Jews redeemed and repopulated Jewish property stolen from the Hebron Jewish community following the 1929 Arab pogrom.

Now the Sharon government wants once again to reward Arab terror and destroy Mitzpe Shalhevet by the end of 2005. Foreign anarchists and Israeli extreme leftist activists have recently started roaming the streets of Hebron daily, harassing the Jewish community and inciting the Arabs.

Now more than ever, it is crucial to show a  constant Jewish presence in Hebron. Women in Green will go once a week to Hebron, visit the different neighborhoods, meet with the Hebron residents , walk around the streets,….in one word- show a proud Jewish presence. We urge you to join us!

This week we will go on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, 2005
Two vans will leave JERUSALEM from the INBAL HOTEL at 8:45 am. Approximate return around 1:00 pm.

For American tax deductible dollar donations to the different Women in Green projects please write out your check to Central Fund of Israel, and earmark it according to these choices:
Women in Green- Operation Band-Aid or Women in Green- Youth for the Land of Israel
or Women in Green- Save Hebron Campaign and send it to:Women in Green, POB 7352, Jerusalem, 91072, Israel.
********
2) The following are upcoming “”Orange Events”” . Women in Green call upon all to join the different activities.

Important! A large protest demonstration is planned for Tuesday evening in Jerusalem against the government’s post-expulsion treatment of the Gush Katif/Shomron expellees. Another event will be held Wednesday.

The Tuesday, November 8, protest, to be held at 6 PM outside the Prime Minister’s Residence near the Sheraton Plaza and Kings Hotels, is entitled, “”Have you both expelled and thrown to the trash?””  It was initiated by residents of the community of Talmon in the southern Shomron.

“”Our brothers from Gush Katif and northern Shomron were thrown to the garbage by the government””, the promotional literature states. “”Their situation is deteriorating, and we are silent!””

The purpose of the protest is three-fold:
to place the issue of the expellees’ plight on the national agenda
to create pressure on the government to speed up the solutions
to show solidarity with our brothers, the expellees

Those who wish to participate have been asked to spread the message to their acquaintances and relatives, to prepare signs and posters, and to bring laundry clips as well; (The purpose for the laundry clips was not explained.).
———————————————————————————————

On Wednesday November 9th, 6:00 pm. at the Binyanei Hauma Convention Center in the capital, Jerusalem, various “”orange”” [anti-disengagement] groups will hold an event entitled, “”We will not forget and we will not forgive.”” In the course of the event, the organizers will declare the establishment of a museum called “”The Destruction of Ariel,”” which will memorialize the expulsion of the Jews of Gush Katif and northern Shomron.

The event is planned as the “”opening shot”” for the continued campaign to preserve Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty. Soldiers who refused disengagement orders and some of those who were imprisoned for their anti-expulsion efforts will receive certificates of honor. Rabbis and public figures will address the audience.

The organizers say that the gathering will be a “”penetrating reckoning of what happened, and a way of learning lessons in anticipation of the future, in order to do all we can to stop the continued destruction and withdrawals.”” A very large response has already been registered for attendance..

Transportation available for a modest fee from all over the country!

Subject: MITZVA: help needed with Gush Katif coats PROJECT WARM-Up- project to provide every
Gush Katif and Northern Shomron refugee with a warm coat.

More volunteers are urgently asked to help sort winter coats for the Gush Katif refugees. It’s cold out there, and the coats need to reach their destinations as soon as possible. For further information, please call Karen at 6518221 or Cheryl at 6521722.

The fundraising drive is continuing to help pay for the 10,000 coats that have been provided by two Israeli suppliers for the expellees of Gush Katif. We want to remind people that 2500 coats have been stolen last week and needed to be repurchased.  Every household is being asked to donate a minimum of 36 shekels to this cause. Even though the manufacturers have provided the coats at reduced prices, the total amount needed is still in the hundreds of thousands of shekels and only a small portion of the coats have been paid for to date. Donations should be mailed to Project Warm-Up, P.O.B. 8431, Jerusalem, 91084. If you have contacts in America, please ask them to donate a minimum of $36 to help in this important effort. Receipts for income tax purposes in Israel and the U.S. are available upon request for larger donations. For income tax receipt in America please write “”Central Fund”” earmarked “”Project Warm-up””.

THE ISLAMIC TERROR VIRUS

LETTER FROM RUTH MATAR (WOMEN IN GREEN) JERUSALEM
Thursday, November 10, 2005
Dear Friends,

I love you all! Your response to my “”public opinion poll”” was overwhelming. 267 of you took time out from your busy lives to answer my questions, and the replies are still coming in.

The questions were as follows:
1. Do you view Sharon’s Gaza withdrawal as a courageous move, and a risk that paid off?
2. Do you feel that the chances for peace between Muslim terrorists and the United States and Israel have increased because of the Gaza disengagement?

Many of you, instead of simply answering “”yes”” or “”no””, gave reasons for the opinions you expressed, which made for very interesting reading.

What is extraordinary is that amongst the 267 replies that I have read so far, there was not even one respondent who gave a “”yes”” answer to either of the two questions.

Two respondents answered “”no”” to both questions, but added the following:
R.K.: “”But Ruth, aren’t you polling a biased population, those that read you letter?””
N.A.: “”Before answering your questions, I should note that the individuals that receive your letters do not constitute a representative sample but only of your readership.””

Bull’s-eye! I am very pleased that Messieurs R.K. and N.A. pointed out the bias of my opinion poll.  You are both absolutely right.  My sample is not at all representative. It consists of people who read my weekly Letter from Jerusalem, and are in the main, supporters of Israel.

My opinion poll is actually very successful in proving what I pointed out last week. The validity of any public opinion research depends greatly on how you choose your sample.

I want to point out, however, that my focus group is more inclusive than the focus group chosen by the Israel Project.

Their poll sample consisted of 500 “”opinion elites”” in three American cities, which included only college graduates with an income of $75,000 a year. My poll sample includes my readers across all of the United States. I do believe that my sample is more inclusive and representative of Americans. You do not have to be a rich college graduate to have an intelligent opinion!

I would not, however, presume to draw any conclusion whatsoever about United States attitudes on Israel, using my unscientific sample, as the Israel Project does. It is dishonest of the Israel Project, to state that, based on their sample “”US attitudes on Israel have improved after disengagement.”” Obviously, the Israel Project has a hidden political agenda, to support those that carried out the expulsion of Jews from their homes in Gaza.

Radical Islam, with Al-Qaeda at the forefront, has claimed responsibility for several mega-attacks against the Western World. Some of the most serious examples:

-The attack on the United States on September 11, 2001. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. A third hit the Pentagon in Washington DC a total of 2,986 people dead.

-The attack on Spain on March 11, 2004. Ten bombs in three Madrid train stations during the height of rush-hour. 190 killed.

– The attack on England on July 7, 2005. Three bombs explode on London Underground trains, and one on a bus, killing 56 and injuring 700.

-Yesterday’s (November 9, 2005) attack on Jordan. Three bombs exploded in three luxury hotels, killing 67 and wounding over 300. These hotels are popular among American and European businessmen and diplomats.

– The ongoing Intifada in France since October 27, 2005- over 1,000 cars torched, many buildings burned down and churches and synagogues attacked.

The whole West, with France at the vanguard, has until now tried to paper over the real conflict with radical Islam with the argument that if only a solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict could be found, then all would be well with the World and Islamic enmity would disappear.

France, unlike the United States, can certainly not be accused of being pro-Israel. French President Jacques Chirac opposed the US war in Iraq precisely because he believed this would give France special status among the world’s Muslims.  Since the 1960’s France has consistently been among the pro-Arab countries in Western Europe. The Arab intifada in France has proven the fallacy of the French pro-Arab anti-Israel approach.

Why are the radical Muslims attacking the United States and Europe? They are not really concerned with the plight of their Palestinian brothers. They do want to get rid of Israel, which they consider a cancer in their Islamic midst, and the frontline of their larger battle against the Judeo-Christian civilization. We must not overlook the religious ideological dimensions of this battle! Islamic radicals are spewing out hatred form their mosques, against the whole Western world. Pure and simple, they hate all non-Muslims!

In order to counteract the threat of Islamic terror, we must understand the strength of ingrained, unreasonable Muslim hatred. As this week’s events have shown, no appeasement of Muslim policy will ensure a nation’s safety.

Some email correspondents have written me that they have used the DVD “”In The Face of Terror””, as a springboard for group discussion. I think that is a great idea. If you have any ideas as to what Israel and the United States can do in order to avoid future terror attacks, please let me know.

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

CONDI SUPPLIES THE ARAB HANGMAN WITH THE ROPE

LETTER FROM RUTH MATAR (WOMEN IN GREEN) JERUSALEM
Thursday, November 17, 2005
Dear Friends,

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has betrayed the Jewish People once again. He has allowed US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, to dictate Israel’s terms of surrender to the “”Palestinians””, who replaced the Jewish residents, forcibly expelled by their own government.

The so called “”Palestinians”” are a conglomeration of Arab terrorist groups, such as the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade (Abbas’ own group), Hamas, Hizbollah, and Islamic Jihad.

Since Israel’s “”disengagement”” from Gaza, another terror group, Al Qaeda has entered Gaza through the uncontrolled open borders and established its new headquarters there. Al Qaeda has boastfully taken responsibility for The World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, in the United States, the Madrid train bombing on March 11, 2004, the England bus bombings on July 7, 2005, and most recently the Jordan hotel bombings on November 9, 2005.

Gaza has now become the terror capital of the world since Israel’s “”disengagement””. Nonetheless, the US seeks further concessions from Israel.

To achieve this goal, Condoleezza Rice delayed her departure from Jerusalem in order to do some arm twisting of Ariel Sharon. Some journalists called it “”knocking heads together”” of Sharon and Abbas. However, Charles Krauthammer on a FOX News panel discussion said, “”There was no knocking heads together- Rice only knocked Sharon’s head.””

Whether it is called arm twisting or head knocking, Ariel Sharon succumbed to US pressure and agreed to the following concessions, which are extremely dangerous to Israel’s security.

1. Opening the Rafah Crossing from Egypt into Gaza, which will facilitate smuggling of weapons.  The only access Israelis will have will be a video-link a few kilometers away from the border post, that will allow the Israelis, albeit ineffectively, to monitor the borders. Any disagreement will be decided by monitors from the European Union! (Do they really expect the EU to be fair to Israel?)

2. In addition, work will begin on the Gaza seaport, which will make it possible for the Arabs to bring in even more weapons.

3. The Karni Crossing from Gaza to the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) will be established as a direct link in the form of special bus and truck convoys. This link will be very important for the Arabs, and not only for economic reasons. It reaffirms the Arab Big Lie that Gaza and the West Bank is one single Palestinian territory, and that the Israeli disengagement from Gaza means, “”Gaza first but not Gaza last””.

These concessions are very harmful for Israel as they make it much easier to smuggle weapons and terrorists, such as suicide bombers, into Israel.

Silly us, we thought that Sharon wanted us to “”disengage”” from Gaza to protect us from Arab terror! He promised us that the Arabs would no longer be able to attack the rest of Israel as we would not allow them to cross the new borders!

However, Mahmoud Abbas saw the situation differently. He said triumphantly, “”Now, with the help of G-d we will get a Palestinian State.”” It is surely not G-d’s intention to give the Muslim terrorists a Palestinian state, carved out of the Promised Land. It is Condoleezza Rice who is trying to do that!

It is widely assumed that President Bush appointed Rice as US secretary of State because of her long time association with the oil industry. Condoleezza Rice had served on the board of one of the top ten largest oil companies in the world, Chevron Oil Company, between 1991 and January 2001. She only resigned when Bush named her as his top national security aid.

Her services to the Chevron Oil Company were so valuable that a double-hulled, 129,000 ton tanker, part of the international fleet of Chevron, had years before been named, “”Condoleezza Rice”” in honor of her services.

But critics complained that the ship served as a giant floating symbol of the Bush Administration’s cozy ties to the oil industry. The tanker’s name also raised more serious questions of possible conflict of interest for Rice, because Chevron does business on 6 continents and in 25 countries and has been sued for alleged human rights abuses in Nigeria.

Leaving a wave of controversy in its wake, one of the most visible reminders of the Bush Administration’s ties to big oil – the “”Condoleezza Rice”” tanker was quietly renamed the “”Altair Voyager””.

Of most concern to Israel is Rice’s apparent antagonism to the Jewish people, their right to live in their entire homeland and her continual attempts to whitewash Mahmoud Abbas and his unsavory past.

Rice thus seems to be the perfect person to advance President Bush’s goal to divide the Holy Land into two entities; a Jewish state and an Arab state. It is sad that President Bush has forgotten that he once said that anyone who supported terror anywhere in the world is an enemy of the United States. Instead the US is pressuring Israel to make dangerous concessions in order to appease the common Islamic enemy.

If you want to know more about the controversial background of Condoleezza Rice, you can access an article that I wrote on February 10, 2005 entitled, “”A Ship on Oily Waters””. Click on the following URL http://www.womeningreen.org/sayfeb05.htm then scroll down to the eleventh article on the page entitled, “”A Ship on Oily Waters””.

Dear Friends, in my last letter I asked you to give me your ideas as to what Israel and the United States can do in order to avoid future terror attacks.

Thank you, Bob Hathaway! Your suggestions may not all be completely practical, but they sure will illicit a good laugh.

Here goes:

Suggestions for the U.S.

1.  Never publicly call Islam a “”peaceful religion””.
2.  Take the Koran out of the White House library and the mosque out of the White House.
3.  Stop having State and holiday dinners with the terrorists from CAIR, etc.
4.  Shut down the office of the “”Palestinian”” lobby in Washington and send them packing.
5.  Revoke every student visa for Arabs.
6.  Shut down every mosque in the U.S. that preaches/teaches Wahabism and/or
    is Saudi funded.
7.  Stop providing U.S. national park land for summer schools for Muslim kids to be trained.
8.  Take every piece of Saudi provided Islamic literature out of U.S. schools and prohibit
    teaching and role playing.
9.  Stop every Arab looking person at every border and check him/her, including the kids.
Begin this in all countries outside the U.S. even before they get here. Automatically
    refuse them entry.
10. Stop providing welfare for Arabs when they arrive in the U.S. at the expense of our own
    poor.
11. Stop all funding for the Arab terrorist regimes in Israel, Egypt, Pakistan, etc, etc.
which is used for military equipment to threaten Israel with.
12. Most importantly, impeach George Bush and his administration and elect Pastor Jim
    Vineyard as President.

Suggestions for Israel
1.  Give every Arab in Israel notice that they have 30 days to liquidate all
their holdings and get out. Begin cutting services to them in 15 days.
2.  Require that they leave every weapon that Israel, the U.S. etc. has given them.
3.  Require that they leave behind every dollar that has been received from outside sources.
4.  Promise to pay for their homes, businesses and farms and then renege on that promise.
5.  Leave them in tents in the deserts of Jordan and make sure you steal their winter coats
    before they get there.
6.  Burn every mosque and purify the land underneath.
7.  Install a cloud by day and a fire by night over all Israel.
8.  Return to Torah.
9.  Celebrate two Shabbats in a row properly.
10. Impeach Ariel Sharon and elect Moshe Saperstein as Prime Minister.

My own suggestion as to how to fight terror is to view the DVD, “”In the Face of Terror”” together with your friends.

IS SHARON ABLE TO FOOL US ONCE AGAIN?

LETTER FROM RUTH MATAR (WOMEN IN GREEN) JERUSALEM
Thursday, November 24, 2005

Dear Friends,

Another earthquake in Israeli politics! Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has quit the Likud and formed a new political party. Fifteen out of forty Likud members (this number includes Ariel Sharon himself) have joined this new party.

Ariel Sharon tells us that he can no longer stay with that “”pesky”” Likud Party, which he HELPED Menachem Begin form in 1973. (Menachem Begin was the head of this party and it retained Begin’s ideological orientation.)

Before helping to form the Likud, Sharon had another brilliant idea: to form a party with MK Yossi Sarid, whose political views put him at the far left of the political spectrum. This makes it easy to understand the ease with which Ariel Sharon has abandoned the clear platform of the Likud Party which opposes ceding any land, whatsoever, to any Arab neighbor, without a solid peace treaty.

Ariel Sharon organized his new party not based on ideology, but on loyalty to himself.

The following is a list of fifteen Knesset Members, leaving the Likud to form the new party led by Ariel Sharon.

What made these Knesset Members so loyal to Ariel Sharon? If you study the following list you will note that, that with a few exceptions, the majority of these Knesset members received political advancement from Ariel Sharon. This was done in order to induce them to support his major political plan, the so called “”Gaza Disengagement Plan””, which was really a plan for the expulsion of 9,500 Jews from Biblical Gaza.

AFLALO, ELI: Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade, and Employment since March 30, 2005

AVRAHAM, RUHAMA:  Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs since March 30, 2005

BAR-ON, RONI:  Knesset Member, Environmental Lobby

BOIM, ZE’EV: Deputy Minister of Defense since March 05, 2003

EDERY, JACOB: Deputy Minister of Internal Security since March 10, 2003

EZRA, GIDEON: Minister of Internal Security since November 29, 2004

HIRSCHON, AVRAHAM: Minister of Tourism since January 10, 2005

LIVNI, TZIPI: Minister of Justice since January 10, 2005

OLMERT, EHUD: Minister of Finance since November 7, 2005; previous roles included Acting Minister of Finance, Minister of Communications, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Employment, Vice Prime Minister.

SHARON, ARIEL: Knesset 9; Minister of Agriculture. Knesset 10; Minister of Defense, Minister Without Portfolio. Knesset 11; Minister of Industry and Trade. Knesset 12; Minister of Industry and Trade, Minister of Housing and Construction, Knesset 14; Minister of National Infrastructure, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Knesset 15; Prime Minister, Minister of Immigrant Absorption, Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of Health, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Minister of Industry and Trade, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Knesset 16; Prime Minister , Minister of Communications, Minister of Religious Affairs

SHARON, OMRI: Chairman, Environmental Lobby. Omri became an MK in 2002, after his father, Ariel Sharon, was elected Prime Minister. On August 28, 2005, Omri Sharon was indicted on charges of corruption relating to fundraising for his father’s 1999 bid to lead the Likud party.
(Is it possible that Ariel Sharon did not know where all the money raised by his son was coming from?)

MEIR SHEETRIT:  Minister of Transportation since August 31, 2004

SOLODKIN, MARINA: Deputy Minister of Immigrant Absorption since March 30, 2005

TAL, DAVID: Noy Parliamentary Group Chairman. Sharon merged with David Tal’s “”Noy”” Party to form his new party. David Tal is the one and only member of the Noy Party. There seems to be no apparent favors given to Tal by Ariel Sharon.

WAHABA, MAJLI (DRUZ): Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, and Sport since June 20, 2005

Haim Ramon of the Labor Party has expressed his desire to join Ariel Sharon but as of yet has made no formal request to the House Committee.

In connection with recent events it is interesting to study the DISENGAGEMENT TIMELINE. (You can find the Disengagement Timeline at the following Ha’Aretz Israel news website,
<http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArtDisengagement.jhtml?itemNo=614898&contrassID=23&subContrassID=0&sbSubContrassID=1#top>). It is well worth your while to study this timeline!

For example, on May 2, 2004, despite leading in the opinion polls weeks before the Likud referendum on the disengagement, Sharon is humiliated when party members vote against his plan by 60%-40%. Even though he had promised to abide by the Likud Membership vote, he nonetheless declares that “”he will forge ahead with the pullout.””

Another very important date is March 28, 2005; the Knesset rejected a bill proposing a national referendum on the disengagement plan by, 72 to 39. This is after the Likud Membership had voted against disengagement on May 2, 2004 and the Likud central committee had done likewise.

Please pay close attention to the disengagement timeline. Two days after the important March 28, 2005, Knesset vote rejecting a bill proposing a national referendum on the disengagement plan, three Knesset Members are rewarded for their vote by Sharon. They were appointed deputy ministers, with accompanying perks:

1. ELI AFLALO became Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment on MARCH 30, 2005

2. RUCHAMA AVRAHAM became Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs on MARCH 30, 2005

3. MARINA SOLODKIN became Deputy Minister of Immigrant Absorption on MARCH 30, 2005

Interesting! Sharon was absolutely against having his pet “”Disengagement Plan”” put in danger by letting the public vote on it. Is this the reason Sharon created these well paying jobs of Deputy Ministers for these three Knesset Members? And this only two days after the Knesset voted to reject a national referendum!

Now for the name of the new party! Sharon’s new political party officially came into being this morning, when Tourism Minister Avraham Hirchson, MK Ruhama Avraham and Sharon adviser Yoram Raved delivered the necessary documents to party registrar Yaron Keidar. The party was registered officially under the name Kadima (forward, in Hebrew). Originally the name was supposed to be the “”National Responsibility Party””.

Possibly Ariel Sharon and his advisers had second thoughts about the name, “”National Responsibility Party””. Many people feel that Ariel Sharon has been less than responsible by expelling his own citizens from their homes in Biblical Gaza and Samaria. Especially since Gaza has now become the terror capital of the world.

A prominent professor, Ron Breiman, Chairman of Professors for a Strong Israel, wrote on this very subject. He wrote the following re the name of Sharon’s new breakaway party before the name change.

“”National Responsibility””? SCORCHED EARTH!
Ariel Sharon’s new party is to be called the National Responsibility Party. Professors for a Strong Israel finds the name to be ridiculous and, shall we say, disengaged from reality. After all, Ariel Sharon has been following a policy that is both irresponsible and anti-national. A better name for his party would be “”Scorched Earth,”” since this is what Sharon leaves behind him everywhere he goes. He left scorched earth when he disengaged from the settlers whom he settled in Gaza, when he disengaged from his own son, and when he disengaged from the platform of the party he founded.
* * *
Don’t believe the prediction that Ariel Sharon will receive a majority vote and will become Prime Minister again in the next election. If you are tempted to believe these opinion polls unequivocally, read my article of November 3, 2005, “”Opinion Surveys As Opinion Manipulation””.

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
1) Women in Green continue to go every Wednesday morning to Hebron to show a Jewish presence in the different neighborhoods of Avraham Avinu,Mitzpe Shalhevet, Bet Hadassah  and Tel Romeida.  Anti-Israel, pro-Arab anarchists from around the world have recently rented apartments in Hebron (in the part of Hebron currently under Arab illegal occupation) and spend their time collaborating with the Arabs, harassing the Jewish community and, like real Jewhaters, spread around the world libel and lies about the Jews.  Residents of the Jewish community of Hevron are very grateful that Women in Green come, show support, visit them and spread the truth about what really is going on in Hebron.  We call upon all to join our weekly trips to Hebron and/or organize such trips on other days of the week.

2) Three months have passed since the expulsion and the Jews of Gush katif and Northern Shomron are still stuck in their “”golden prisons””- hotels, tent cities or refugee camps. A major founder of the settlement movement, Zvika Slonim from Kedumim, has decided he cannot go on living without protesting this inhumane and criminal treatment of the expellees. Zvika and his wife have put up a tent in Jerusalem next to the Supreme court building and have started a sit-in protest. Women in Green call upon everyone to take the time and show support with the protestors. Zvika, his wife and expellees will be sitting daily from morning and night.

3) the following is an update from the Orange English mail:

NEW update -Nov 25, 2005 Kfar Darom will not be moving to Ashkelon to the building you wrote about. After lies, delays, and more lies and delays, the banks have now refused to sign – causing yet a new delay. Kfar Darom voted yesterday to cancel the whole plan. They will have another meeting tomorrow to decide on a positive course of action, after 3 months of being played with by the government and Sela, with empty promises. We pray for them and all the expellees that they find the strength to remain together until a solution is found for them by the bodies which caused them to have a problem in the first place.

Take care, and Besorot Tovot

                                The Upcoming Elections

The threat of the combined Sharon-Peres Kadima Party winning the next election, must bring about a decided change in the outlook of the individual existing so-called nationalistic parties.  As was proven in the last election in 2003, the vast majority of this nation has a nationalistic orientation!  We must find a way in which this nationalistic viewpoint of the Israeli electorate is able to be expressed at the ballot box.

The threat of the success of the Kadima Party is quite real.  The Kadima Party  has the “”left”” oriented media, to wit: the press, radio and television at its beck and call.  The media  will certainly be active to unfairly distort the news to favor Sharon’s Party in the election.  The only solution seems to be that the nationalistic parties unite and present a common slate.  It will only redownd to the benefit of Israel, which should be the ultimate goal of everyone concerned, whether they be religious or non-relgious.

The present danger is directed not only against the religious. The Jewish State is threatened with its very existence.  The Sharon- Peres threat goes to the very core of Israel’s existence as a Jewish State.  The Council of Sages must take this into account and revise its thinking accordingly.  We need the Haredi population to be counted as well among those whose orientation is nationalistic.

The details of how this is to be worked out are not the first priority..  What is essential is that it be started at once to work at uniting and to recognize the danger..  A common slate of nationalistic oriented individuals is both mandatory and crucial.  The various parties involved must rethink their desired objectives, and do everything necessary to facilitate their winning the upcoming election.  They cannot do it without taking this action to unify this nation.  We are in eminent danger, and must at all costs, prevent the election of the Sharon-Peres slate.

A Jewish State, for all the Jewish People must be the objective.  This ancient People can not allow the destruction of what they yearned for over 2000 years.
