In recent years he has dedicated his time to the study of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

His book, “Flags Over the Warsaw Ghetto”, was written to draw the public’s attention, as well as the attention of future generations, to the part played by the members of the ŻZW (Żydowski Związek Wojskowy, the Polish Jewish Military Union, formed by the Beitar movement) in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The part played by the members of the ŻZW in the Uprising has been obscured, and Prof. Arens is correcting a historical injustice.
