The members and heads of the Sovereignty Movement made special preparations for the Likudiada because of the impressive success reflected by Likud Central’s unanimous vote in favor of the application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

The leaders of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, note that this is the third year that they and other representatives of the movement participate in the Likudiada. “The people at the Likudiada love the Land of Israel, which they proved with their unanimous vote at the meeting of the Likud Central Committee in favor of the application of Israeli law in the territories of Judea and Samaria”, say the two women, who view the importance of their presence at the event as “the true democratic celebration, allowing personal and direct contact to many Jews from all walks of life, Jews who are faithful to their Land and the values of the Likud”.

In preparation for the event the movement has prepared a document in which selected quotations by Likud ministers, members of Knesset and other senior figures are cited, expressing enthusiastic support for the application of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. Among the public figures whose words are cited in the document, which was distributed in hundreds of copies among the guests at the Likudiada, one can find the president of the state, ministers such as Yisrael Katz, Yariv Levin, Haim Katz, Ze’ev Elkin, Ofir Akunis, Miri Regev, Gila Gamliel, Ayub Kara and many more members of Knesset.

During the event, the leaders of the movement met with senior figures in the Likud. In these meetings, they provided even more of an ideological, Zionist, grassroots and practical tailwind to the Likud leaders in the Knesset and government who promote sovereignty.

Katsover and Matar mention that their movement has been leading the campaign for the application of Israeli sovereignty for the past seven years, which “gradually, together with members of other movements, in particular the Land of Israel Lobby in the Knesset, led by MKs Yoav Kish and Bezalel Smotrich, has brought about the dramatic change that is now occurring in the political-diplomatic sphere in Israel, a change that is ending the discourse of withdrawals and becoming a discourse of sovereignty”.

“With conferences, Parlor gatherings, meetings, publication of the Sovereignty Journal, producing a dedicated Internet site etc, we, with the help of many of the Sovereignty Movement’s members, are working to steer the ship of the Israeli state’s direction toward the values of love of the Land and clinging to the Land, and diverting it from the iceberg-strewn path of Oslo and a Palestinian state, to the most basic of Zionist goals. At the Likudiada we believe that we succeeded in deepening the discussion of sovereignty even more, on our way from the vision to the practical”.
