The Sovereignty Movement praises the government for passing the third reading of the proposal to repeal the Disengagement Law in northern Samaria, and congratulates those who led to this decision, members of Knesset, ministers, settlement figures and the pioneers of Homesh.
“The Disengagement Law perpetuated an ethically perverse injustice, lacking any logic or basis in diplomacy, politics or security. After 17 years, the Israeli government has decided to take the positive, logical, ethical and Zionist first step of restoring a Jewish presence to northern Samaria”, says the movement.
“This step is a sort of “turn away from evil” (Psalm 34) and a rejection of the law that sought to make a flourishing part of the Land located in the heart of the People of Israel’s homeland, clean of Jews, Heaven forbid.
Now it is time for implementing the 2nd part of the verse: “and do good”, the stage of restoring Jewish settlement, to expand and flourish and especially vital now, is the official application of Israeli sovereignty over the heart of the Land.
There is nothing more righteous than this – a step that expresses the longings of the People of Israel through the generations. Our movement will continue to encourage and strengthen those who promote sovereignty whether in the government, in the Knesset and outside of those institutions”, say the co-chairwomen of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar.
