This past Friday in Shdema

Tens of us arrived in Shdema, this past Friday, like we had originally planned-once a month, in order to show a Jewish presence …

The new yellow gate at the entrance of Shdema is yet another sign that the IDF has returned to the place.

We quickly entered, set ourselves up inside the building and listened to the fascinating shiur on parashat hashavua by Ruthie Wallfish, member of the Committee for a Jewish Shdema.

It was a special morning- in addition to the shiur we enjoyed the erev Shabbat songs with Eli Gilboa and his accordion, the coffee, cakes etc.. made us all remember what we have gone through…two years of a struggle for a Jewish Shdema, two years of activities, aliyot to the hill, battles, determination and steadfastness…and the result: the army returned to Shdema -or at least at the top of the hill.

The top of the hill we succeeded in saving from being taken away by the arabs- but at the bottom of the hill the Arabs work relentlessly and have built an addition illegal structure. Clearly we must increase our Jewish presence once again.

Simultaneously we will continue the safeguarding of the lands in Netzer/ Every meter we can safeguard is important and even more important: the Arabs have to see and to know that jews have not given up on their land, that Jews continue the struggle, that Jews know that this land belongs to the Jewish People.

This coming FRIDAY, June 4th at 9:00am we will meet at Netzer in Gush Etzion for a lecture in Hebrew by Arieh Klein on the topic: “What is the relation between America and Rome?” ending with a tour of the area in Derech haavot.
