Raising a toast at Oz veGaon in honor of the national camp’s victory

Yesterday morning, (Friday, March 20th), a ceremony was held at the Oz veGaon Nature Preserve, which is located at Gush Etzion Junction, to congratulate the people of Israel, on the occasion of the national camp’s victory in the elections. It was attended by dozens of residents of the Gush Etzion area and the communities of Judea, as well as supporters from Jerusalem.

Gush Etzion Deputy Head Moshe Savile offered congratulations on behalf of the Council for the great achievement. Also present was head of the Likud branch in Har Hevron, Yehuda Glick, who congratulated those present and the entire People of Israel for the achievement. In his words, Glick mentioned his personal obligation to thank the Almighty for the miracle that happened to him when he survived the attempt to assassinate him several months ago, and also the debt of thanks owed by the entire People of Israel, for the impressive victory of the national camp in the recent elections.

Glick continued, saying that “the Pesach offering, about which we will read tomorrow, expresses the spirit of liberty, the commitment to the People and their great faith in the Almighty”. He mentioned the intensity of faith, as it is expressed in the blood of the offering that was placed on the lintels of the houses of the People of Israel and he added that “We still have much work to do and therefore we will need each individual’s special spirit in order to continue on the path”.

Helen Freedman, Head of AFSI (American For a Safe Israel), also spoke, expressing her disappointment with the conduct of the Obama administration towards Prime Minister Netanyahu and his policies. Later on, she congratulated the People of Israel for the democratic election, in which the People of Israel expressed its position of independence without submitting to external dictates.

Freedman further expressed her support in the overall struggle for the Land of Israel and noted, in her words, the historical obligation of the Jewish People to apply sovereignty over the entire territory of the Land of Israel.

The event closed with a toast and HaTov veHametiv (the traditional blessing for joyful occasions) and the blessing over wine, “with thanks for the past and a prayer for the future”, in the words of Yehuda Glick.

Women in Green was the movement behind the ceremony, which was held after the customary weekly lecture at Oz veGaon. The heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, tell of the uplifting atmosphere engendered by the many visitors to the site. “The misgivings of last week have faded and now we are all infused with energy to continue acting on behalf of the Land of Israel and the People of Israel”.
