Friday at Shdema
with Rabbi Yosef Mendelovitch – In My Distress I Called upon the L-rd
Yosef Mendelovitch, a Prisoner of Zion, established an underground organization in the USSR for teaching Hebrew and Judaism. He has devoted his entire life to the Jewish people.
Forty-two years have passed since “Operation Wedding.” Yosef Mendelovitch participated in the attempt to hijack a small plane from near St Petersburg as part of the struggle for the free aliyah of Soviet Jewry. The members of the group were caught. Mendelovitch was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment, three years of which he served under especially harsh conditions because of his insistence upon observance of the commandments. In Israel, as well, Rabbi Mendelovitch continues to struggle on behalf of all of Eretz Israel and the people of Israel, and he was arrested in a demonstration on behalf of Jonathan Pollard.
This Friday, December 21, we will go up to Shdema at 9:00 a.m. to hear a fascinating talk by former Prisoner of Zion Rabbi Yosef Mendelovitch, who will speak about the Tenth of Tevet
