Friday at OZ veGaon with Dr. Yossi Spanier

What do we remember about the War of Independence in the area around Jerusalem encompassing the area between Gush Etzion and Atarot and Neve Yaakov?
This will be the subject of Dr. Yossi Spanier’s lecture at Oz veGaon, G-d willing, this coming Friday, the 12th of Iyar 5775, May 1st, at 9:00 AM. Lecture will be in hebrew with simultaneous tarnslation into English.

Dr. Yossi Spanier was born in Jerusalem in 1955. He was a member of Kibbutz Ma’ale Gilboa, and a senior lecturer in the colleges that train teachers as part of the Society for the Protection of Nature and he writes articles on the subject of the Land of Israel.

Spanier delves into the information as it relates to instruction in the field, as an educational tool in the training of people who work in the field of education. His research works are collected in the book The Land of Israel’s Eastern Desert, which highlights the connection between Judaism and nature and teaching methods in the subject of the Land of Israel.

He was a tour guide for the Society for the Protection of Nature in the Sha’ar HaGai Field School in the Moshav Beit Meir and in Har Gilo. He managed the Society for the Protection of Nature’s Field School in Ofra. He completed studies for a Master’s degree in Land of Israel Studies in the University of Bar Ilan and did research in the area of eastern Samaria. In 1999 he was awarded a doctorate degree in the Department of Land of Israel Studies from the University of Bar Ilan for his research: The Eastern Desert of the Land of Israel. He is a lecturer in Efrata College and Lifshitz College.
