AFSI Representatives: We Will Spread the Necessity of Israeli Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria
In a special event that was held today (November 12) in Shdema in Gush Etzion, the AFSI representatives present showed their enthusiasm at the return to Shdema, and promised to act in the United States on behalf of the vision of the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria
Activity continues in the struggle for the return to the lands of the Shdema base in eastern Gush Etzion. As part of the activity conducted at Shdema, today (Monday, November 12), dozens of members of Americans for a Safe Israel (AFSI), the pro-Israel lobby headed by Helen Freedman, were guests at the site.
“The participants were very moved upon seeing the renewed Jewish presence at the site,” say the organizers of the event, the heads of the Women in Green movement Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar. They stress that the AFSI members were partners from the very beginning in the campaign to return to Shdema, and they came now to strengthen Jewish possession of Shdema, and to express their support in a public campaign that took on renewed momentum in the past weeks and months.
During their visit, the guests were shown three short movies on the activity of Women in Green, in some of which they themselves participated. They then heard a survey of the recent events held at the site and about the plans for the future given by Nadia Matar. She was followed by Yehudit Katsover, who spoke about the need for application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, relating to various aspects of such a move, in terms of values, security, and demography.
In response, the guests from the United States voiced their excitement at such a move, which they view as necessary progress alongside the actual building on the ground towards a normalization of Israel’s standing in the region. The guests also promised to mobilize to this end, and spoke of their willingness now to spread the idea among senior members of the Jewish community and the American administration.
The event at Shdema ended with the planting of trees by the guests.
Americans for a Safe Israel, under the leadership of Helen Freedman, is an American Jewish organization that bears the message: “Americans for a whole and safe Eretz Israel.” Representatives of the organization come twice a year for a show of support in Israel in which they direct attention to the struggle for Judea and Samaria, with special emphasis placed on sites where there are struggles or disputes.
Every year, for the Shabbat of Hayyei Sarah, AFSI members come for a stay to Hebron, as it was this year, as well. The organization is active for the strengthening of Israel, and also functions as a special lobby with the members of the American administration.
