Friday in Shdema about the “defense attorney” for the Jewish People
This coming Friday in Shdema, October 18th, at 9:00am, we will, please G-d hear a fascinating lecture (in Hebrew) by Rabbi Ze’ev Sultanovich.
Rabbi Sultanovich was born in the USSR and came on aliya with his family as a young boy. He studied in Yeshiva Merkaz HaRav. He was a cherished and close student of Rabbi Tzvi Yehudah Kook זצ”ל. At the age of 20 he began to teach the writings of Rabbi Kook in the “Midrasha Leumit” in Tel Aviv.Rabbi Sultanovich gives unique and wide-ranging series of classes on History and Philosophy from a Torah perspective. Rabbi Sultanovich also teaches classes in the “Uri Tzvi Greenberg Heritage House” in Jerusalem and the “Institute of Jewish Statesmanship and Strategic Thought” in Kedumim.
Rabbi Sultanovich will talk about Reb Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev (1740–1809), also known as the Berdichever, who was a Hasidic leader. He was the rabbi of Ryczywół, Żelechów, Pinsk and Berdychiv, for which he is best known. He was one of the main disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch, and of his disciple Rabbi Shmelke of Nikolsburg, whom he succeeded as rabbi of Ryczywół
Reb Levi Yitzchok was known as the “defense attorney” for the Jewish people, because it was believed that he could intercede on their behalf before God. Known for his compassion for every Jew, he was therefore one of the most beloved leaders of Eastern European Jewry.
A lecture not to be missed.
