Dear Friends,
Today, Yom Hazikaron, the People of Israel remember all those who sacrificed their lives for Israel. Tonight the festivities of Yom Haatzmaut, Israel’s 60th independence day, will start.
At a time when Israel’s political leadership is actively betraying the People and the Land of Israel by holding talks about the abandonment of Israel’s Heartland to the Arab enemy and by working tirelessly for the creation of an enemy state in our Land, it is not so easy to celebrate. There is a fierce debate in the national camp about the question how one should celebrate.
Women in Green believe that on the one hand we must celebrate the miracle of the creation of the State of Israel but on the other hand we cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend all is fine and well. Incredibly, we are in a situation where the Government of Israel is threatening the very existence of the State of Israel and the Land of Israel.
Therefore, Women in Green suggest that the best way to celebrate Yom Haatzmaut is to participate in activities that are connected to the struggle for keeping the Land of Israel, showing the world that the Olmert government does not represent the people of Israel. The people of Israel love their homeland and will fight for it. Below we give you a list of such activities.
It is important to add that we should not content ourselves with celebrating 60 years to the State of Israel. We must remember that the Jewish people have over 3800 years of Jewish settlement of the land of Israel that started with Abraham and Sara’s journey after G-d commanded them: "Lech Lecha" (go forth).
A journalist asked us whether we are optimistic as to Israel’s future and whether we are celebrating.
Our answer was a loud and clear YES!
The reason is very simple. It is the wonderful youth that gives us optimism and hope. Yes the situation is not easy. True, we have corrupt anti-Zionist leaders. But that will pass soon, please G-d. The wonderful youth that the national camp has brought up represents the future of this country. Youth that are not scared of the Arabs, of the Israeli leftist elites and of Condoleezza Rice. Those youth who are completely loyal to the Land of Israel, are the ones that, please G-d, soon will take over this country and turn it into a proud Jewish country.
They are the real reason for hope and joyous celebration!

This coming Yom Haatsmaut there are, thank G-d, many activities connected to the struggle for the Land of Israel. Women in Green friends and members will divide themselves among the following activities that will take place on Thursday of Yom Haatsmaut.
In addition, we urge you to mark your calendar for the massive rally for Jonathan Pollard that will take place on Monday May 12th. Details at the end of this email.
THURSDAY YOM HAATSMAUT:
A) ASCENDING MOUNTAIN RIDGES ALL OVER JUDEA & SAMARIA
At a time when the Olmert government is discussing and planning the destruction of the entire settlement enterprise and at a time when the Yesha Council is once again betraying the settlement enterprise by collaborating with the government and pushing forth the "compromise plan" of "willingly bringing down outposts" we must fight not only for the existing communities but also for the barren areas between the different settlements.
Sometimes we forget that the concept "the land of Israel" applies not only to the actual existing communities but to the entire land of Israel. Millions of dunams of land lay empty between the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Beautiful hills are just waiting for Jews to come back and walk the area, hike the mountains and settle them. Up until now Jews did not approach those areas enough. As we know, there is no vacuum. When we are not there showing a presence on the land, the Arabs take over illegally. And thus, Arabs have taken over many areas over the past years creating Arab villages and agricultural farms on land that really belongs to the Jewish people.
Now, thank G-d, the loyalists of the Land of Israel, the youth for the Land of Israel, Women in Green and Adamah Admati are pushing forth this revolutionary campaign that is basically a direct continuation to the "Building Eretz Yisrael campaign" that was started on Hannukka. On Hanukka new outposts were created, four of them have, thank G-d, lasted till now and will be strengthened on Yom Haatsmaut. In addition, new mountain ridges will be settled and/or hiked on in different areas. Determined youth and young families will go up to these mountain ridges and settle them. Some will build shacks to live in. Some will live in caves in the area. Some are shepherds who will keep the land with their flock. We will accompany them on Yom Haatsmaut.
In Efrat, for instance, we will march to the Eitam mountain ridge. Eitam is the hill that the government has been trying to cut off from Efrat and give over to the Arabs. Last year the Efrat-Gush Etzion residents have started a struggle for keeping the Eitam and, thank G-d, the area is still in our hands. The one hour march to Eitam will start at 12:00 noon. On the hill, Efrat Rabbi Shimon Golan, member of the Rabbinate will give divrei torah, we will lay the cornerstone to a new synagogue, have activities for children, picnic, music and celebrate with lots of joy for G-ds gift of the Land of Israel!
On Thursday night we will sleep on the hill and on Shabbat youth will have the first Shabbat ever on the Eitam. For Details please call 050-5500834.

TIME: 5:30 PM (Human Chain); 6:30 PM (Rally)
WHERE: Freedom for Jonathan Pollard Square (midway between PM’s residence and the US Consulate) where King George Street meets Keren HaYesod Street (at the intersection of Ramban and Agron Streets.)
FEATURING: A Human Handcuffed Chain with Israeli flags stretching from Agron Street (opposite the US Consulate) to Freedom for Jonathan Pollard Square (formerly Kikar Pariz)
ASSEMBLY POINT: At 17:30 (5:30PM) we will assemble in Independence Park, opposite the US Consulate on Agron Street, to form a Human Handcuffed Chain with Israeli flags and kick off the rally. The main event rally will take place at 6:30 PM at Freedom for Pollard Square (formerly Kikar Pariz).
