FRIDAYS IN SHDEMA

The event in the Land of Israel Cultural Center in Shdema this past Friday started with a demand to the Prime Minister in relation to the murder of Rabbi Meir Chai HY”D. “Get a hold of yourself immediately and stop caving in to the Arab enemy” said the members of the Committee for a Jewish Shdema and Women in Green. “The murder of rabbi Chai HY”D was expected. When you open roadblocks, when you agree to release hundreds of murderers, when you instill in the Arab enemy hopes for more and more concessions, you weaken Israel and every weakness invites another terror attack. Now, more than ever, it is our obligation to fight with even more determination for each and every place in the land of Israel, and that is what we are doing in Shdema, among other places.”

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Rabbi of Efrat, spoke about the parashat hashavua and described how the story is relevant to today’s events.

Yehuda, expert in negotiations, wanted to soften Joseph. He told him how his father is already very old and how much he will hurt if he loses another son. In his dealings to achieve what he wanted, (i.e.
Binyamin) Yehuda was making sure to use arguments that would have an effect on the person he was dealing with. Rabbi Riskin said that this was a tremendous lesson in negotiating. One needs to understand how the head of the other side is working. This is in sharp contrast to today’s government that is acting like a beaten wife, added rabbi Riskin. The government thinks that if we give and give- that we also will receive. But that is not the case. We must know the mentality of the other side and stand firm on our interests and not on that from the other side.

Rabbi Riskin was disturbed to hear about the situation in Shdema. That the Arabs had been allowed to build an entire complex despite it being area C, belonging to Shdema, with the financial help of international organizations like USAID and we the Jews are not even allowed to fix anything let alone build. The plastic sheets that had been put up last week to protect us from the rain had been torn down. Likewise, we found a booklet in Shdema by the World Health organization whose members must have gone up to Shdema during the week , planning how to take away Shdema from us, and purposely left their traces there.

The Friday event, in which tens of people participated, was accompanied by erev Shabbat music from Eli Gilboa, resident of Kiryat Arba Hevron, and his accordion.

This coming FRIDAY January 1st, CAROLINE GLICK, senior contributing Editor of the Jerusalem Post, will be talking in SHDEMA on “Obama and Israel”. The lecture will be at 10:00 am.

Caroline will be speaking in Hebrew and there will be simultaneous translation into English with earphones.

Dear Friends,

A lot has happened in these past few days. Following are a few announcements related to these events.

1) First, about the hesder yeshiva saga:

Unfortunately, the Iggud Hayeshivot Rabbis have shown weakness and have forced Rabbi Melamed to sign a document, naively hoping that this would appease Ehud Barak and convince him to allow the Har Bracha yeshiva to stay within the Hesder program.

What made things worse was that the Rabbis’ capitulation came on the same day that the media divulged a shocking IDF document that was leaked and that described how the IDF is preparing for an additional expulsion of Jews and for actually fighting the Jews of Judea and Samaria who might oppose the upcoming destruction of homes. Instead of loudly protesting this document, and demanding from Netanyahu to oust Ehud Barak from the government, the Rabbis continued to try and please Barak.

For the article in Hebrew with pictures of the actual document:
http://www.inn.co.il/News/News.aspx/197996
For shortened article in English summarizing the Hebrew document:
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/176806

Ehud Barak was not impressed with the signed document and has announced that the Hesder arrangement with Har Bracha is over.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135147

Luckily, many in our camp have not been impressed by the Rabbis’
capitulation either and continue to proudly declare that soldiers have joined the army to fight the Arab enemy and to protect the people and the Land of Israel, and not to carry out leftist policies of expulsion of Jews from our homeland.

Below please find a translation of a petition supporting Rabbi Melamed’s position. In addition, two days ago, soldiers in reserve have hung up a sign near the community of Avnei Hefetz, saying: “We are all students of Har Bracha”.

Ultimately, it is up to us, parents, grandparents and families of soldiers, to pass on a clear message to our boys in the army: You have joined the army to fight the enemy and protect your people and your homeland. We trust you that over the years you have been blessed with a Jewish conscience and thus you will never obey an order that goes against your people and your land.

2) Women in Green continues with the “Build the land of Israel”
project. In the next few days we will give you more details. Meanwhile you can enjoy the following Arutz 7 story about our Women in Green building event in Netzer last week:
Video: Freeze-thawing ceremony in Netzer:
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135131
Thank you Yoni Kempinski for posting the story. Thank you Rivka Ryback for filming and editing the movie.

3) Update on the struggle for a Jewish Shdema:

In SHDEMA, plastic sheets on the windows and two kerosene heaters taken from Bet Hashalom in Hevron, protected against the cold the tens of participants who came to Shdema on Friday of Hanukka.

Despite the bitter cold, the heavy rain, the mist and the winds, tens of people from around Israel came this past Friday of Hanukka to Shdema.

Rabbi Yisrael Ariel warmed the heart of all with his very clear lecture on the real borders of the Land of Israel. “We are here in Shdema because of the pact of Hashem with his People promising us this land, and not because of it being an abandoned military base, said Rabbi Ariel.

Musician Zvi Zelevsky played the guitar and sang his excellent songs.
The public wanted “encore” and “encore”.

On the walls there was an exhibition of amazing paintings by artist Garik Zilberman on the topic of Hanukka.

The activity for the children was adapted according to these days of “freeze decrees”. Large amounts of Lego were brought to Shdema and the children proudly defied the decrees against building- building from Lego a huge hanukia, the Bet Hamikdash and a new community (the Civil administration did not come to stop the young builders).

The large puddles created by the blessed rain provided the children with an additional fun activity of paper boats floating in the water.

The Friday before, erev Hanuka, historian Dr Arieh Morgenstern and Rabbi Uziya Sharbaf, with the moving introduction by Rabbi Eliyahu
Aviad- spoke about the students of the Vilna Gaon (the GR’A) and their aliya to the land of Israel, which this year we are celebrating as being 200 years later.

Dr. Morgenstern spoke about the historical aspects and Rabbi Sharbaf about the spiritual motives behind their aliya to Israel. The students of the GR’A basically launched a new era by canceling the three oaths and starting activism, long before the first and second aliya.

In the past year and a half, Shdema has become a vibrant Land of Israel Cultural Center to which tens of people are drawn, every Friday morning, adults and youngsters, religious and not religious, all deeply understanding that it is inconceivable to give away Shdema to the Arabs. In order for Shdema to stay in Jewish hands we have to increase the Jewish presence at the site. The Land of Israel Cultural Center in Shdema is unique for it combines, on the spot, the actual struggle for the Land of Israel together with lectures on our right to the Land of Israel, concerts and exhibitions all flavored with erets Israel scents. In these days where our right to our land is being questioned, we must, even more than before, increase the Jewish presence at the site.

This coming Friday at 9:30am, we will hear a lecture in Shdema by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Rabbi of Efrat on the topic: “Are we commanded to convert the world?” (lecture will be in Hebrew).

Petition of Hesder Yeshiva Educators in Support of R. Melamed December 17, 2009 by Gil Ronen
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135066

Support for Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, Head of Har Bracha Yeshiva, is growing. A petition supporting Rabbi Melamed in his ideological showdown with the Minister of Defense, signed by rabbis and educators countrywide, has reached Arutz Sheva.

The letter reads as follows:
An open letter
>From rabbis/educators in the Hesder yeshivas
To the yeshiva students, and youth awaiting conscription

Dear students and youths!

We turn to you at a time in which many in the country are discussing the relationship between Torah commandments and the authority of the military commander.

As educators who send their students to serve in the IDF, we are committed to answer this question in a clear and precise way, as we were taught by our greatest rabbis: Chief Rabbi Shlomo Goren of blessed memory, Chief Rabbi Avraham Elkana Shapira of blessed memory, Rabbi Shaul Yisraeli of blessed memory and Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Neria of blessed memory.

We have therefore written the following before you:

May you only be strong!

By the grace of G-d we have been given the gift of living in a time of redemption. A time of ingathering of exiles, of establishment of the State and a Jewish defense force, the Israel Defense Force or IDF. All these constitute a great sanctification of G-d’s name and are steps toward the complete redemption.
To our sorrow, for some time now, the army is also being used for purposes that have nothing to do with defending Israel, and are contrary to the will of Hashem, as it appears in the holy Torah. This situation throws the soldiers of the IDF into a reality in which there is a contradiction between the commandments of G-d and the orders of the military commander.

Therefore, we must teach ourselves and all of Israel, that our belief in Hashem the G-d of Israel and the acceptance of the yoke of His Kingdom, are the source of our devotion in the war to assist Israel.
We need to make it clear to everyone that this loyalty to Hashem stands above all other loyalties, to the government or to the army.

Through this very trouble shall we be delivered.

We will make it clear that while it is true that the army has one commander he, too, must be loyal to the G-d of Israel. This clarification will uplift our army to loyalty to Hashem our G-d, a loyalty through which the true Israeli military consciousness shall be clarified. It is not “my power and the might of my hand that hath gotten me this wealth, but the Lord your God… gives you power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8).

The Gemara in Sanhedrin Tractate teaches us that it is a mistake to declare loyalty to a flesh and blood king without noting that our primary loyalty is to the Word of Hashem!

The Yad Ramah [a 12th century Jewish sage from Spain ed.] explains the passage by saying that any declaration of loyalty must be carried out in the fashion of the sons of Gad and Reuven, who told Joshua: “As we obeyed everything that Moses told us so shall we obey you, only let the Lord your G-d be with you as He was with Moses; Every man who goes against your orders will be put to death, may you only be strong.”

They declared loyalty and then lessened it, in case they would be ordered to transgress against the Torah and its commandments.

We teach our students, the Hesder Yeshiva students, to be loyal soldiers out of a commitment to to the Word of Hashem. We are certain that the Name of the Lord which we bear is what strikes fear into the hearts of our enemies, and it is what awards us with salvation and the glory of victory.

Signed,

Rabbi Yigal Abutbul, Rishon LeTzion Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Ben Tzon Elgazi, Kerem BeYavneh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Shmuel Eckstein, Afikei Daat Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai, Kiryat Arba Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Shlomo Binyamin, Lev LaDaat Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot Rabbi Ariel Bareli, Afikei Daat Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot Rabbi Ohad Baruchi, Tverya Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Eyal Gefen, Rishon LeTzion Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Gross, Mitzpeh Eshtamoa Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Amir Garti, Shavei Shomron Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Erez Vatik, Shavei Shomron Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Shiloh Tovi, Afikei Daat Hesder Yeshiva, Sderot Rabbi Elisha Yinon, Beit Shean Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Yaakov Yehudah Yakir, Beir Orot Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Yitzchak Levi, Kerem BeYavneh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Yishai Lange, Beit Orot Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Yair Frank, Shiloh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Nachum Tzafri, Elon Moreh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Noam Konigsberg, Shaalabim Hesder Yeshiva Rabi Eliyahu Shachor, Elon Moreh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Aryeh Stern, Kerem BeYavneh Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Shalom Shmidt, Ramat Gan Hesder Yeshiva Rabbi Yedidya Shimon, Rishon LeTzion Hesder Yeshiva

“Mamma Rochel” 0

————————————————————————–

Under the original Oslo agreements, the Oslo architects meant to give away Rachel’s Tomb to the Arab enemy. What changed the decree was a meeting by Rabbi Chanan Porat and Rabbi Menachem Porush with Yitzhak Rabin. The loud crying by Rabbi Menachem Porush shouting “Mamme Rochel, Mamme Rochel” (”Mother Rachel, Mother Rachel” in Yiddish) and the convincing arguments of Chanan Porat succeeded in keeping Rachel’s Tomb in our hands.

This is one of the many stories that were told to the tens of people who came to Shdema last Friday to hear Rabbi Chanan Porat.

Rabbi Porat spoke about Rachel Imeinu, our mother Rachel, her personality, the incredible power of her crying and of those crying for her. Rachel represents Erets Israel, the longing to the land and our obligation to safeguard it.

Shdema is located some 5 kilometers from Rachel’s Tomb. Rachel’s struggle is not over yet. All of her sons are not back yet to all parts of the Land of Israel. The struggle continues. The struggle for the Land of Israel in general and for Shdema in particular.

Upcoming Activities in the Eretz Israel Cultural Center at Shdema 0

Upcoming Activities in the Eretz Israel Cultural Center at Shdema

First was the idea.

Adv. Elyakim Haetzni was among the first ones to conceive of the return to the heart of Eretz Israel. His activity, together with others, led to the renewal of Jewish settlement throughout Eretz Israel after its liberation in the Six Day War.

A week after the war, Adv. Haetzni already began the journey of return to Gush Etzion, Hebron, and all the patrimony of the fathers of the Jewish people. Last Friday, on the eve of the Shabbat of Bereshit, Adv. Eliakim Haetzni presented at Shdema historical documents and stories that were not told until now, with humor and a very historical viewpoint, that is relevant to this very day.

The fascinating lecture was recorded on video for future generations.

Adv. Haetzni said that the left has been occupied with “words” for the past forty years, while the national public, in contrast, has been engaged with “stone” - with building and settlement. He asked: will the “words” of the left succeed in overcoming the “stone” of the national camp? His answer was clear and unequivocal: the “words” were, and still are, directed against Jewish construction and settlement in the heart of the land, but Adv. Haetzni believes for a certainty that the left will not prevail over the 300,000 Jews on the mountain ridge, and an additional 200,000 Jews in the Jerusalem area - and this is not all.

Adv. Haetzni further stated that the great pride of the renewed settlement in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza is that it sprouted from below, as a popular, grassrooted movement that pulled the governments after it.

A fascinating hour and a half, and it wasn’t enough for us. At the request of the dozens of participants, it was decided to hold an additional lecture by Elyakim Haetzni at Shdema (Part II), on Friday, the eve of the Shabbat of Vayishlah, December 4, 2009.

Succot 5770 1

Instructions for unsubscribing can be found in the footer of this message.

————————————————————————–

Dear Friends,

This new year is, according to our calendar, the year 5770. The year in the Jewish calendar is expressed by letters. 5770 equals the Hebrew letters “taf”, “shin” “ayin”- which can be an acronym for “May this year be a year of Aliyah and increased activities”

Women in Green is starting the new year with exactly that: increasing, even more, our activities for the Land of Israel.

Below you will find a reminder about our special program in SHDEMA on the first day of Hol Hamoed Sukkot, Sunday October 4th. A day of real Eretz Israel joy, for the entire family, NOT TO BE MISSED!
The struggle for a Jewish Shdema is receiving more and more attention by the media and the politicians.
It is important to have a big turn-out on Sukkot in Shdema. The more people show up, the more chance we have to keep Shdema in Jewish hands. Tell your family and friends about it. For those who want to receive the flyer about the Sukkot event in Shdema (flyer in English and Hebrew), please email us and we will email you the flyer so you can print it and post it in your synagogues and community centers.

Be a partner in the increased activities for the Land of Israel! Join us!

————————————————————————–

Dear Friends,

Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 23rd, and join us on a uplifting chizuk trip to some outposts in Binyamin and Samaria who are on the national public agenda.

Following the information on our trip is an article by Yoram Ettinger, “State of Terror”, explaining the dangers of the creation of a Palestinian State in Israel’s Heartland.

After reading Ettinger’s article one understands even more how important it is to strengthen the outposts and do all we can to build more and more Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

With love of Israel,

Nadia Matar

State of Terror
By Yoram Ettinger
August 26, 2009

Why a Palestinian state would be a threat to American, Israeli and even Arab national security.

The idea that a Palestinian state can lead to enduring peace in the Middle East has become a diplomatic obsession for American policy makers. Bringing such a state into being has become the equivalent of finding the Holy Grail. In fact, however, a Palestinian state would not only fail to bring peace and stability to the region, but would make it an even more dangerous place than it already is. And ironically, given its adamant backing for a government that would have been led by Yasser Arafat and now would be headed by Abu Mazen, U.S. support for the creation of “Palestine,” which would immediately ally itself with and become a client of rivals and enemies of America such as Iran, would harm American, Israeli, and even Arab interests.

The history of the PLO’s Abu Mazen who is hailed by the US administration as a peaceful leader tells us something important about the likely character of a Palestinian state. As a graduate of Moscow University (Ph.D. thesis: Holocaust Denial) and a beneficiary of KGB training, he managed the logistics of the Munich Massacre of eleven Israeli athletes in 1972. He was the architect of PLO ties with ruthless communist regimes until 1989 and, since 1993, a series of PLO accords with Hamas. In 1950, 1966 and 1970, he was forced to flee Egypt, Syria and Jordan, respectively, for subversive activities. During the 1970s and 1980s he participated in PLO attempts to topple the Christian regime in Beirut, which resulted in the 1976 Syrian invasion of Lebanon and a series of civil wars, causing close to 200,000 deaths and hundreds of thousands of refugees. As Yasser Arafat’s confidante and first deputy for over fifty years until Arafat’s death, Abu Mazen is one of the engineers of contemporary Palestinian hate education, which has become a production line for terrorists. In 1990, he collaborated with Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, despite the Gulf country’s unique hospitality to 400,000 PLO-affiliated Palestinians.

This history is not that of a peace maker, and the PLO’s track record of inter-Arab treachery, non-compliance, corruption, repression and terrorism does not give evidence of peaceful Palestinian state of the future. Since its makeover from a terrorist organization to a semi-independent entity in 1993, the Palestinian Authority, which has been led by PLO graduates of terrorist bases in Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia, has become an incubator for terrorist tactics, which have been exported to Iraq, Afghanistan, England, Spain and other countries.

The 1968-70 and 1970-1982 PLO autonomy in Jordan and in Lebanon respectively provided training and inspiration for scores of international terror organizations; introduced the first wave of commercial aircraft hijackings; and facilitated the murder of 300 US Marines in the 1983 attack on the US Embassy and Marine Headquarters in Beirut. The year 1993 when the PLO catapulted to prominence marked a wave of anti-US Islamic terrorism, starting with the first bombing of the World Trace Center in 1993 and ending with the September 11 attacks.

The proposed Palestinian State would inflict destruction upon America’s Arab allies and would enhance the fortunes of its rivals and enemies. Other states in the region know this. During the October 1994 signing of the Israel-Jordan peace treaty, top commanders of the Jordanian military urged their Israeli counterparts to stop short of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River, “lest it destroy the [pro-US] Hashemite regime east of the River.” Home to the largest Palestinian community in the world, Jordan is considered by the PLO to be Palestinian land. Why would the US support the Hashemite regime on one hand, but doom it to oblivion, by promoting a Palestinian State, on the other?

Even more worrisome are the ties between the PLO and Iran. The PLO was one of the earliest allies of the Ayatollah Khomeini when he toppled the Shah of Iran in 1979. After his 2005 election to the chairmanship of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen’s first visits were to Teheran and Damascus. A Palestinian state would extend Iran’s long terrorist arm, facilitating subversive operations against pro-Western Arab regimes. It would also enable Iran to enhance its intelligence and military operations in the region, including port facilities in Gaza.

A Palestinian State would be a tailwind to insurgent terrorists in Iraq. With its long record of connections to Soviet intelligence, it would provide Russia and possibly China and North Korea with a foothold in the eastern flank of the Mediterranean at the expense of vital US interests. The increasingly Islamist and anti-US direction of Abu Mazen’s educational and media efforts indicates that a Palestinian state would export terrorism to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

The long and determined effort by American administrations to soften the Palestinian Authority’s harsh features cannot change the fact that a Palestinian State would add fuel to the fire of terrorism in the region. In tying its fortunes to the creation of such a state, the United States may be signing a suicide note for its Middle East policy.

FOR A JEWISH SHDEMA!! 2

Instructions for unsubscribing can be found in the footer of this message.

————————————————————————–

The convention of the terrorist Fatah organization in Betlehem last week has brought with it a wave of vandalism against Shdema, located on the outskirts of Betlehem

For the past two weeks, international anarchists and Arabs have vandalized Shdema, have besmirched the Israeli flags and have painted anti-Israeli slogans on the walls.

When we go up to Shdema, the IDF accompanies us, mainly to make sure we don’t do any serious building in Shdema. On the other hand, the illegal Arab construction at the bottom of Shdema continues to blossom, despite the destruction orders against it.

The Arabs get the message, and now are trying to take over the camp. There is only one factor that prevents them from succeeding: it is you, all the hundreds of Zionists, lovers of Israel who, by coming to Shdema on a weekly basis to show a Jewish presence, are proudly declaring: We do not give up one inch of the Land of Israel!

Without your devotion and steadfastness, Shdema would already have been under illegal Arab occupation, threatening the entire area.

TOMORROW, FRIDAY, WE ARE INCREASING OUR PRESENCE!! JOIN US!!

For those who can’t come or live abroad, you can join the struggle too !!

Below you will find a list of Israeli ministers and their contact information. Please call their office, write faxes and emails and letters demanding to keep SHDEMA in Jewish hands and demanding to destroy the illegal Arab building at the bottom of Shdema. The more phone calls, letters and faxes they get, the more chances we have to succeed.

You can send the same letter/fax to all ministers. Yes, you can write in English too.

Each fax, phone call and letter counts!

Tomorrow, Friday’s, program:

At 9:30am - a shiur will be given by Rabbi Shimon BenZion from Kiryat Arba

At 10:30am - Member of Knesset Yaakov Katz (Ketzele), from the National Union, will be leading a march towards the illegal Arab construction where we will demand that the authorities destroy the buildings.

The march will be accompanied by tour guide Arieh Klein who will give explanations on the area.

At 11:30 - return

Justice is on our side. Please G-d, we will act and be successful.

Be part of the struggle for a Jewish Shdema. Join us this coming Friday!

Transportation by registration only- from Kiryat Arba at 8:45 am, from Tsomet Hagush at 9:00, from Efrat at 9:05, and Har Choma 9:05

Dear Friends,

What a meaningful Tisha B’Av evening!!

More than 2000 people participated in the Annual Women in Green Tisha B’Av March around the Walls of the Old City. The thousands arrived from all around the country, religious and non-religious, families and singles, young in age and young in spirit, Israelis born in Israel and lots of Olim, new olim and old olim, all united in their love and loyalty to the land of Israel and Jerusalem.

The evening started with a moving Eicha reading by David Matar, in front of the U.S. Consulate after which we started our march.

After passing the new Gate, Damascus Gate and Flower Gate, we stopped at the Lion’s Gate, through which our IDF soldiers entered to free the Old City in 1967, to hear speeches by Mk Prof Arieh Eldad, Rabbi Yehuda Glick from the Temple Institute, artist Dudu Elharar and Nadia Matar, Women in Green. Rabbi Yossef Mendelevitz said Kaddish in memory of the soldiers who fell right at the gate in 1967.

All speakers mentioned the need to increase the struggle for the Land of Israel, for Jerusalem and for the Temple mount. The evening was very moving; an evening where thousands of Jews pledged allegiance to Jerusalem and the land of Israel.

We would like to thank all those who helped in preparing for the march, contributed, supported and mainly to all of you who forwarded the information about the march by email and by word of mouth. Thanks to you, dear friends, the evening was a huge success.

SHDEMA:

FOURTH THURSDAY-FRIDAY IN SHDEMA

“I gained two birds in one “klap”, said one of the participants in all of our Thursday-Friday seminars in Shdema this past month:

1) I enjoyed every lecture, I learned from every activity, everything was done with such flavor and order.

2) I was able to take part in the struggle to increase the Jewish presence in Shdema. We know that the struggle for Erets Israel is a tough one, but in Shdema, during the seminars, I hardly felt the heat; the halls in the destroyed buildings did not bother me…the interesting and intellectual lectures, the beautiful exhibitions of paintings…all contributed to the fact that I really felt I was in a proper Erets Israel Cultural Center, with a very special flavor.”

If you still have not been in Shdema- now is the time!

TOMORROW: FRIDAY JULY 31:

9:30-10:30 Lecture in English by Yoram Ettinger on the “Demographic scare: demographic time bomb or scarecrow”?

9:30-10:30 Lecture and movie in Hebrew by Rabbi Zevik Harel, director Midreshet Tohar on the Hassidic rabbi of Piaseczne, great lover of Erets Israel.

10:30-11:30 “Russian Poetry You Didn’t Know” - poetry translated into Hebrew, with Zeev Geisel, artist and mathematician and Alex Kropisky, musician

Anna Hodorkovsky from Tekoa will exhibit her paintings in the Shdema main hall.

Youth (and youth at heart) will have, as every Friday, classes in self-defense and krav maga.

Transportation by registration only (call Elisheva 052-3003689)
8:45 from Kiryat Arba passing by Tsomet hagush and Efrat south-return around 11:30

Shdema is accessible by private car.

ALERT TO GUSH ETZION RESIDENTS and ALL ERETZ ISRAEL LOVERS-

FOUR YEARS AFTER THE DESTRUCTION OF GUSH KATIF AND NORTHERN SHOMRON WE WILL FIGHT TO SAVE THE HOUSE OF TAMAR & MUDI BIBI IN ELAZAR, NETIV HA’AVOT NEIGHBORHOOD, Gush Etzion

For the past year and a quarter,Tamar and Mudi Bibi and their baby have lived in their house in the Netiv Ha’Avot neighborhood of Elazar in Gush Etzion. The Netiv Ha’Avot neighborhood has been populated for the past 8 years, with some 20 families. Despite that, the ministry of Defense, for political reasons, refuses to officially annex the neighborhood to the community of Elazar. Yesterday, Wednesday, Bagatz has issued a destruction decree for all Netiv Ha’Avot houses within 90 days.

First on line is the Bibi home which Ehud Barak has promised to destroy by August 2009, which means that the demolition forces might be coming any day in the next few days or hours.

Interestingly, no destruction orders has been given to the tens of thousands of illegal Arab houses in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, Negev and Galil.

WE CALL UPON THE PUBLIC TO COME TO ELAZAR, TO SEE THE HOUSE OF TAMAR AND MUDI BIBI,

THIS COMING MONDAY, AUGUST 3rd at 6:00pm, for tefillat mincha and a lecture by the famous tour guide Arieh Rottenberg.

Today they use the excuse of “no building permits” to destroy a house - tomorrow they will plan a destruction similar to that in Gush Katif and Northern Shomron.

THE STRUGGLE FOR THE BIBI HOME ENCAPSULES THE STRUGGLE FOR THE ENTIRE SETTLEMENT ENTERPRISE.

The descendants of the Arabs who murdered the Jews of Kfar Etzion in 1948 would love to receive a present from the Israeli Minister of Defense, to commemorate the 61 years since the falling of Gush Etzion. WE WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!

Tamar and Mudi Bibi 050-6221361
Chana and Menachem Gofer 052-8119073/4

Update:

On Monday, July 27th, the Police Chief Commander of the Hebron area, Itzik Rachamim, and Officer Amiad Rabinik in charge of the Gush Etzion police came to Netiv HaAvot, next to the Tamar and Bibi home, and it seemed as if they were “scouting he war zone”. Instead of focusing on destroying Jewish homes, we call upon them to turn their attention to the 50,000 illegal Bedouin houses in the Negev, 10,000 illegal Arab houses in Jerusalem and at least another 50,000 illegal Arab houses in the Galil

FINALLY:

Nationalist Camp: Disobey Expulsion Orders
Av 9, 5769, 30 July 09
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu (Israelnationalnews.com)

Seventy-nine percent of the national religious camp would encourage soldiers to refuse orders to remove Jews from communities in Judea and Samaria or to ask not to participate in removing residents, according to a new poll.

The results of the survey published Thursday show the national religious camp is “settling accounts” with the government for having separated from the ”heritage of forefathers,” pollsters Meir Gal and Dr. Avi Piaar told the Yisrael HaYom Hebrew language newspaper. The poll was carried out by Mootagim, the Hebrew word for “trademark” or brand name products.

Thirty-nine percent of the respondents favor outright refusal of expulsion orders, and 36 percent would encourage soldiers to ask commanders to relieve them from having to expel Jews from their homes.

The poll showed signs that the expulsions four years ago left the national religious camp more insistent to fight future orders to remove Jews from their homes. Sixteen percent of the respondents said that they would do “everything that is needed” to fight future expulsions, even if it would result in injuries to soldiers or police officers.

The issue of using soldiers to carry out political decisions, even if they are to be executed in Judea and Samaria where the military establishment is the legal authority, aroused an emotional debate four years ago, on the eve of the expulsions of approximately 8,000 Jews from Gush Katif and parts of northern Samaria.

The number of national religious officers in the IDF is proportionately far higher that non-religious officers, and their ideology emphasizes pride to serve in the army. However, several rabbis have argued that the expulsion orders were illegal or immoral, and one reserve officer who campaigned four years ago against the idea of soldiers refusing orders has changed his stand.

IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi is trying to prevent a future problem of dissension and has told Defense Minister Ehud Barak he does not want soldiers to participate in any future expulsions.

Two States Already Here?

Half of those participating in the poll also think that a new Arab state within the current borders of Israel will be established or already is functioning on a de facto basis. Twenty-five percent said there will be a Palestinian Authority country, while another 25 percent said that it already exists.

Most surveys among the Arab sector in Judea, Samaria and Gaza have revealed a general pessimism regarding their personal future and the chances that a new state will be formed. They also increasingly favor violence against Jews.
